Experimental demonstration of the DPTS QKD protocol over a 170 km fiber link
Quantum communication allows exchanging information in an unconditionally secure way, basing its security on the fundamental laws of quantum physics.
The work reports the first practical demonstration of the DPTS protocol (invented at DTU back in 2016 [https://www.nature.com/articles/srep36756]) over 170 km of fibre link, proving that DPTS generates a higher secret key rate compared to the one adopted by commercial companies.
With this demonstration, the CoE SPOC proves the capability to design and implement new QKD protocols almost ready for possible commercialization.
